Apolipoprotein A5 and hypertriglyceridemia.

چکیده
Hypertriglyceridemia is associated with increased risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) (1–5), and it is an integral component of the overlapping syndromes of familial combined hyperlipidemia, insulin resistance syndrome, atherogenic lipoprotein profile, and hyperapobetalipoproteinemia (6 ). More than one mechanism may be involved in the increased risk of CHD associated with increased serum triglycerides:

A novel genetic variant in the apolipoprotein A5 gene is associated with hypertriglyceridemia.
The apolipoprotein A5 gene (APOA5 ) has been shown to play an important role in determining plasma triglyceride concentrations in humans. We describe here a novel variant, c.553G>T, in the apolipoprotein A5 gene that is associated with hypertriglyceridemia. In contrast to some other polymorphisms, which occur in non-coding regions of the gene, this variant occurs within the coding region and ca...
متن کاملAPOA1/C3/A5 haplotype and risk of hypertriglyceridemia in Taiwanese.
BACKGROUND Apolipoprotein A5 gene (APOA5) has been shown to modulate plasma triglyceride concentrations. We investigated 2 distinct APOA1/C3/A5 haplotypes roles for hypertriglyceridemia. METHODS We recruited 308 cases of hypertriglyceridemia and 281 normal controls from a hospital. Twelve single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) across the APOA1/C3/A5 gene region were genotyped. RESULTS One h...
متن کاملGenetic Variants Associated with Gestational Hypertriglyceridemia and Pancreatitis
Severe hypertriglyceridemia is a well-known cause of pancreatitis. Usually, there is a moderate increase in plasma triglyceride level during pregnancy. Additionally, certain pre-existing genetic traits may render a pregnant woman susceptible to development of severe hypertriglyceridemia and pancreatitis, especially in the third trimester. To elucidate the underlying mechanism of gestational hyp...
متن کاملAssociation of the Apolipoprotein A5 Gene −1131T>C Polymorphism with Serum Lipids in Korean Subjects: Impact of Sasang Constitution
Apolipoprotein A5 (APOA5) was identified as a strong modulator of serum lipids. Moreover, an APOA5 gene -1131T>C polymorphism has been associated with serum lipids, but the results are inconsistent according to ethnic and racial groups. We have genotyped and analyzed 1,619 outpatients of Korean oriental medicine hospitals who were classified into three Sasang constitution groups (SCGs), So-Yang...
متن کاملApolipoprotein A5 and hypertriglyceridemia in Prague hypertriglyceridemic rats.
High plasma triglyceride (TG) level is a major independent risk factor of coronary heart disease. A newly identified Apolipoprotein A5 (Apoa5) gene has been shown to play an important role in determining plasma TG concentrations in humans and mice. Prague hereditary hypertriglyceridemic (HTG) rats are a useful model of human hypertriglyceridemia and other symptoms of metabolic syndrome. Thus, t...
